Park Tudor seeks an experienced, innovative, and collaborative Middle School French Teacher for the 2026–2027 academic year. This full-time faculty member will primarily teach French in grades 6–8 and serve as an advisor to a small group of Middle School students. This position reports to the Middle School Director and works closely with the World Languages Department Chair.

The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative PK–12 World Languages Department and contribute to the continued growth of a dynamic and proficiency-based language program.

World language instruction begins in Junior Kindergarten and continues through grade 12. The department follows a performance-to-proficiency approach grounded in ACTFL standards.

• Spanish is integrated into the curriculum in Junior Kindergarten through grade 5.
• In grade 6, students may elect to begin French or continue Spanish.
• The Upper School offers six levels of Spanish and French, including Advanced Placement courses.
• Chinese and Latin are also offered at multiple levels.

Faculty collaborate across divisions to ensure vertical alignment and sustained language growth. Target language instruction is expected for the majority of class time.

Responsibilities:

• Teach multiple sections of Middle School French (grades 6–8)
• Design engaging, proficiency-oriented lessons aligned with ACTFL standards
• Teach primarily in the target language
• Assess student growth using performance-based measures
• Serve as an advisor to a small group of middle school students for the year
• Collaborate with grade-level teams and PK–12 language faculty
• Communicate effectively with students and families
• Participate actively in the life of the Middle School community

Qualification Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in French, World Language Education, or related field

Experience: 3-5 years previous teaching experience is required. Middle school and independent school experience preferred.

• Advanced High or higher proficiency in French language
• Experience and passion for teaching French at the middle school level
• Experience teaching in a student-centered environment
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills
• A growth mindset and a commitment to professional development, including growth through reflection and peers’ feedback
• Proficient at using technology tools such as Google Suites, MS Outlook, Veracross, Canvas
• Willingness to lead or assist a club, activity, or sport

Preferred Qualifications

• Native or near-native speaker command of the target language
• Experience with performance-based curriculum design
• Experience in language immersion instruction
