Position Summary
Rice Memorial High School seeks a passionate and skilled Spanish teacher for a full-time position beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop proficiency in Spanish while deepening cultural understanding and communication skills. The Spanish teacher will deliver engaging instruction aligned to world language standards, integrate technology and authentic resources, and foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment that promotes intellectual curiosity and confidence.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Spanish teacher will:
- Teach Spanish courses at the high school level (courses assigned based on experience and scheduling needs)
- Plan and deliver effective lessons that support student proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening
- Create a classroom environment that is structured, inclusive, and engaging
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, including communicative language teaching and proficiency-based approaches
- Assess student learning through formative and summative methods and provide timely, meaningful feedback
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Integrate technology and authentic cultural materials to enhance instruction
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, assessment practices, and interdisciplinary learning opportunities
- Communicate regularly with students and families regarding progress, expectations, and support strategies
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events
- Support the mission of the school and contribute positively to the life of the Catholic school community
- Perform other duties as assigned by the administration

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, World Languages, Education, or related field
- Demonstrated ability to teach high school students effectively
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to support and uphold the mission and values of a Catholic school
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field
- Vermont teaching licensure (or eligibility to obtain licensure)
- Experience teaching multiple levels of Spanish (e.g., I–IV, honors, or AP/advanced coursework)
Experience incorporating speaking-centered instruction and authentic assessment practices
