Part-Time 4th Grade French Teacher
Our fast-growing bilingual, international school is located in Hoboken, New Jersey, one subway stop from Manhattan, New York. We offer high-quality bilingual Spanish, Mandarin, and French bilingual programs, and celebrate a vibrant community representing over 70 cultures and nationalities.
We are accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB), a NAIS model school, and seek Spanish government accreditation for the elementary levels.
From Nursery through Kindergarten, children learn 80% of the time in the target language (either Spanish, French, or Mandarin) and 20% of the time in English. Starting in grade 1, children learn 50% of the time in the target language and 50% in English.
We seek a caring Part-Time 4th Grade French Teacher for the 2025-2026 Academic Year.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans that align with the IB curriculum framework and foster a love of learning in young children.
- Utilize various instructional and assessment methods to meet the diverse needs of all learners in the classroom.
- Monitor and document each student's academic, personal, emotional, and social progress.
- Establish and maintain a positive and supportive classroom environment that promotes effective learning.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, and colleagues, both formally and informally.
- Prepare adequately for any absences and ensure smooth classroom operation.
- Fulfill administrative tasks, including accurate and timely attendance records and lesson planning.
- Actively pursue professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Contribute to the school's mission and values.
- Foster a climate of respect and understanding among faculty, staff, students, and parents.
Qualifications:
- Native French speaker or fully bilingual in French and English.
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience teaching primary-aged children is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a genuine love for working with primary-aged children.
- Positive attitude and a commitment to creating a nurturing learning environment.
- Experience in an international school setting and/or cross-cultural experience is a plus.
- Prior experience with the IB PYP is preferred.
