Position Summary:

The Benjamin School is seeking a full-time innovative, creative, and dynamic Spanish teacher to join the Lower School team for the 2025-26 school year. This role requires an individual who is a fluent Spanish speaker with the skills and expertise to develop the written and conversational proficiency of young students. A successful candidate will have a genuine passion for Spanish culture, arts, history, and literature. This position reports directly to the Head of Lower School.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

• Regularly works in standard classroom conditions and climate.  Frequently performs some duties such as walking classes or supervising student arrival or dismissal outdoors in varying weather conditions and climate.
• Regularly uses close and distance vision.  Works at a computer screen for extended periods. Ability to observe students from various distances.
• Frequently required to move around the classroom and to work at a desk for extended periods of time. Often positions oneself to work with small children on the floor, frequently moves around campus
• Ability to occasionally move items up to 30-50 lbs. across the classroom
• Ability to work in a very busy and highly involved environment
• Ability to periodically work additional hours to support before and after-school or weekend events

Essential Qualifications:

• Speak and write Spanish fluently
• Hold a bachelor’s degree in Spanish, language instruction, or related field (advanced degree preferred)
• Have experience teaching Lower School and world language courses (other relevant experiences will be considered)

• Demonstrate a passion for teaching, fostering student growth, and exploring world cultures
• Demonstrate strong professional relationships with children, families, and colleagues
• Knowledge of world language pedagogy and child development
• Proficiency with technology, including iPad, learning management systems, and basic G Suite for Education (Google) tools
• Experience in an independent school is preferred
