The Town School is a 112-year-old, coeducational Nursery through 8th Grade school on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. We now seek an experienced educator to serve as the Upper School Spanish Teacher for 5th to 8th grade for the 2025-2026 school year. Reporting to the Head of Upper School, the Upper School Spanish Teacher will build on our school’s history of excellence and collaborate with us on future possibilities. The Salary Range for this position is 67,000 to 115,200.*
Responsibilities:
- Teach 4 sections of Spanish
- Serve as an Upper School (US) Homeroom teacher/advisor
- Serve as a full community member by attending meetings, participating in committees, and volunteering for various duties to supervise students
- Work collaboratively and professionally with subject area, grade-level, divisional, and school-wide colleagues for curriculum planning, student support, and mentoring
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and administration
- Contribute constructively to all faculty discussions and continue to grow professionally (i.e., conferences, in-service training, current literature)
- Participate in other US duties, as needed.
Qualifications:
? Exhibits a positive way of being, as an educator and community member, in all school contexts
? Shows an appreciation for the craft of teaching, along with a passion for and knowledge of middle school language learning and the developmental needs of children in this age range
? High linguistic competency beyond the middle school curriculum
? Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion
? Fluency with the ACTFL WORLD-READINESS STANDARDS FOR LEARNING LANGUAGES
? Strong capacity to integrate technology into classroom teaching
? Demonstrated success in collaborating with colleagues, parents and students
? Possesses the following habits: collaboration, organization, confidence, reflection, vulnerability and resiliency, communication and transparency, curiosity, ethics, social and emotional intelligence, and action-orientation
? At least 5 years teaching experience, preferably across multiple grades
