This is a full-time, exempt position teaching Middle and Upper School French, reporting to the Head of Middle School.This position will begin on August 15, 2025. The ideal candidate will assume the responsibilities and possess the qualifications as indicated below.
Major Responsibilities
Teach four sections and advise, or five sections of Middle and Upper School French.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must:
Share a deep passion for French
Have experience teaching French to middle-school students (Grades 6, 7, 8) and command of appropriate L2 strategies
Have experience in immersion-based teaching (90% + target language) and appropriate L2 strategies
Demonstrate the ability to execute lessons using authentic resources, games, and songs
Demonstrate knowledge of Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling (TPRS) techniques and engage multiple modalities so that students can retain information
Have experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and work to create a supportive atmosphere and rigorous academic program in which all students will thrive.
Demonstrate competence in applying global diversity perspectives to language instruction
The successful candidate will possess:
Maturity, collegiality, flexibility, humor
Excellent speaking and writing skills
3-5 years teaching experience (preferred)
BA in Education or related field (MA in French, Foreign Language instruction or a related field not required but preferred)
Knowledge of Spanish would be a wonderful addition
Superior level of proficiency in French
