Newark Academy is seeking a part-time French teacher to join a dedicated and dynamic faculty. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching and will communicate effectively in French to inspire students' confidence in using the target language in all forms of expression. Our next French teacher will have experience teaching and a demonstrated capacity to embrace student-centered, skills-focused, and culturally competent practices. There is the potential for the position to be full-time for an experienced candidate with proficiency in French and Spanish.

Ideal candidates will be interested in embracing the wider school community through their involvement in clubs, activities, and/or athletics.
Responsibilities:
Create a positive, student-centered environment
Collaborate and work collegially with peers to design and revise curriculum to create a consistent course experience across sections
Prepare lessons to deliver to assigned classes, generally four sections
Meet school guidelines regarding grading, recordkeeping, and use of the learning management system to post timely information about classes
Participate in school-wide activities such as workshops, special events, and professional meetings
Engage in the life of Newark Academy
Desired Qualifications:
Experience teaching in middle school, upper school, or higher educational settings Professionals in related fields or with non-traditional paths to education are also encouraged to apply.
Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred
Experience developing curriculum grounded in performance-based standards (ACTFL)
Experience working with and supporting a diverse community of students, parents, and colleagues
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal in English and French)
Experience working in independent schools is preferred but not required
