Our school seeks a professional, experienced and passionate educator to teach Spanish to grades PreK - 6th. The qualified candidate will have teaching experience at the middle school level and a background, interest, and passion for teaching Spanish. Successful candidates will have sound pedagogical skills, highly developed writing and organizational skills, experience teaching Spanish, a growth mindset, positive resolve, follow through, and the desire to build positive and meaningful relationships with students in a manner consistent with our child-centered, integrated, and developmentally appropriate curriculum. Responsibilities: - Teach students the Spanish language, including grammar and vocabulary
- Developing lesson plans and curricula based on the needs of individual students.
- Conduct research on teaching methods, materials, and language games that can be used in class.
- Scheduling and preparing students for oral and written examinations.
- Monitoring students’ progress by writing up reports and grading assessments.
- Organizing feedback sessions with students and their parents if applicable.
- Providing suggestions for further learning and scheduling intervention sessions with struggling students.
- Teaching students about culture, which may include festivals, traditional food, dress, and social conventions in Spanish-speaking countries.
- Organizing activities and events where students can showcase their Spanish language skills.
Requirements: - A bachelor’s degree in a related educational field is required for this teaching position. An advanced degree is preferred but not required.
- Native Spanish speaker preferred but not required.
- Proven written and verbal proficiency in Spanish.
- Proficiency in Google Suite.
- Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements: When performing activities throughout the day, the teacher spends most of the day in the classroom. They must walk through the classroom and be able to maneuver in tight spaces between desks, etc. Dealing with the students can entail kneeling or squatting, stooping, and bending from 50-70 degrees at the waist on an occasional to frequent basis. Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds as frequently as needed to move objects (textbooks and materials). The teacher often moves children’s desks and chairs to change the layout of the classroom to influence the learning situation. The teacher must see and hear continuously as well as speak frequently. Positions may vary from standing, sitting, or walking. On rare occasions, moving quickly, running, etc., over smooth to uneven surfaces such as asphalt, wood chips, on the playground, or the grass may be necessary. The teacher must have the manual dexterity to use office equipment, manipulate books and other learning materials, and assist students with various activities. The teacher must have repetitive movements of fingers and hands for keyboarding. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. |
