The candidate is expected to have native or near-native proficiency in Japanese and the ability to teach in Japanese and English. The ideal candidate will pursue an active research agenda in Japanese language, linguistics, culture, or literature, and demonstrate potential for substantial contributions to the field. Possible areas of specialization include the acquisition and teaching of Japanese as a second or heritage language, Japanese linguistics, Japanese literature, and Japanese cultural studies.
