The Foote School is seeking a part-time Spanish Teacher beginning in August 2023. The Foote School is an independent K-9 co-ed day school in New Haven, Connecticut. We aim to endow students with timeless values while providing the thoughtful experiences that will prepare them to learn, lead, and grow in the 21st century; the language program has a key place in this experience.
The successful candidates will be a nurturing flexible person with a strong background in Spanish instruction and an understanding of the developmental needs of children. They should be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and peers as well as be able to employ a variety of instructional techniques to engage young learners. The successful candidate will have a commitment to our school’s mission, to working collaboratively with others, and to upholding the values of the school community.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in Spanish, and/or education preferred
Proficiency in Spanish, priority to native or heritage speakers
Effective oral and written communication in English
Experience teaching language instruction to students preferably grades K-9
Training in best practices as it relates to modern language pedagogy
A willingness to collaborate with others and to contribute to the school community
A commitment to professional growth and innovative thinking
Strong personal and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities:
Prepare curriculum and lessons and teach Spanish to students grades 6-9
Potentially serve as an academic advisor in the Middle School
Participate in meetings, field trips, special activities, and rotational duties
Regularly write reports that evaluate student performance and demonstrate knowledge of students’ experiences
