Essential Functions

• Develops and administers foreign language education curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments to challenge students
• Teaches knowledge and skills in the target language, which is inclusive of reading, writing, speaking, and listening
• Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to meet each individual student's needs, conducts individual and small group instruction as needed
• Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting as required by district procedures and applicable laws
• Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and implements effective classroom management strategies

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Must hold a valid PA certification in Spanish
• Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
• Ability to use technology and software applications as needed
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others
