ACTFL’s Professional Learning and Certification Team is seeking a scholar to support the redesign of virtual learning resources for language educators. ACTFL has numerous virtual learning modules covering a wide range of content related to the teaching and learning of languages. With a changing landscape of providing virtual/remote learning for language educators, ACTFL is looking to inventory existing content, outline categories for accessing the content, and help with the design of new modules. The Scholar will receive a $2000 honorarium and will work remotely 10 hours per week for eight weeks (June 8 – July 30, 2021). Applicants will be reviewed on a regular basis until the position is filled.
The Professional Learning Content Scholar will work closely with the Professional Learning and Certification Team to:
Create an index of the online content currently available in ACTFL professional development (virtual learning modules) by categories and subcategories related to teaching and assessing languages,
Outline possible micro-learning modules,
Create and present a multi-year plan for monthly virtual learning sessions (in collaboration with ACTFL’s Professional Learning and Certification Team).
Candidates must be a currently enrolled college/university student pursuing a degree, specialization, or minor in language education (enrolled in a language teacher preparation program). Recent graduates may also be considered.
Additional qualifications include:
Proficiency in English and one or more world languages,
Experience in foreign/second language teaching,
Background of learning and/or teaching in a virtual environment.
Strong organization skills and attention to detail,
Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills,
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
Ability to work collaboratively, cooperatively and collegially
