The Senior Advisor will advise the Stevens Initiative team on matters related to the adoption of virtual exchange towards scaling in the K-12 sector. S/he will advise on strategy and trends affecting primary and secondary schools in the United States and help connect the Stevens Initiative with states, districts, and schools who wish to integrate virtual exchange programming into classrooms.
Relationship Development and Management
Advise the Stevens Initiative on the overall strategic leadership and approach to raising demand for virtual exchange at the K-12 sector;
In collaboration with the Stevens Initiative team identify and cultivate key K-12 leaders responsible for making decisions in school districts. The Senior Advisor will assist in sharing the value proposition of virtual exchange with key adopters and influencers such as superintendents, principals, and teachers;
Will work with K-12 education leaders to help guide their implementation in conjunction with the Stevens Initiative team and partners;
The Senior Advisor may assist the Stevens Initiative in devising additional ways and programs to engage educators in the practice of virtual exchange, such as forums, workshops and training events, and other engagement opportunities.
Will contribute to field-building resources developed by the Stevens Initiative as necessary.
May be asked to participate in panels at conferences and other public fora.
CLASSIFICATION & TERM:
Part-time. The Senior Advisor will engage with the Stevens Initiative team on a part-time basis – paid hourly, up to 20 hours a week.
2-year. Renewable based on Initiative’s needs.
Experience in a senior leadership role in K-12 education in a school, district, local educational agency, state educational agency, or K-12 focused non-profit organization
Master’s Degree preferred or bachelor’s degree with strong education or education policy experience with 10 years of relevant experience;
Experience with education technology and/or international education;
A significant portfolio of contacts in the sector;
Experience managing a portfolio of accounts;
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking;
Excellent analytic, organizational and writing skills
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills;
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment both independently and as part of a team – flexible and able to multitask
Entrepreneurial spirit and drive, professionalism, high energy, patience, hard work and a “can do” attitude
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and commitment to the mission of the Stevens Initiative.
