ACTFL OPIc RATER CERTIFICATION OPPORTUNITY for English, Korean, & Vietnamese
ACTFL and its test delivery partner, Language Testing International (LTI), are recruiting consultants to become paid raters for the ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPIc) in English, Korean, and Vietnamese.
What is the OPIc? The ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview – Computer (OPIc) is an internet-delivered test that provides valid and reliable oral proficiency testing on a large scale. The computer-delivered assessment emulates the ‘live’ OPI, but the delivery of questions take place through a carefully designed computer program, and via a virtual avatar. Thus, the test can be taken on-demand and at a time convenient to the candidate and proctor.
VIRTUAL OPIc Rater Certification Workshop
Selected applicants must be able to complete an online certification workshop that ACTFL will host in December 2019. This workshop will be conducted in a virtual format, with both synchronous (i.e. “live” sessions that occur at a pre-determined time) and asynchronous sessions (i.e. to be completed on your own before the due date). Please note that all portions of the workshop are required. You will:
Recognize and apply the Assessment Criteria for each of the major ACTFL proficiency levels and sublevels
Assess whether a response meets or does not meet the targeted level of a task.
AWARDING OF CERTIFICATION:
OPIc Rater Certification is issued for 4 years.
Raters will be asked to participate in benchmarking and norming activities to maintain rating reliability.
Costs associated with the training and certification process are covered by LTI, with the condition that - upon certification - raters make themselves available to rate tests at their own convenience at a minimum on a monthly basis.
BENEFITS ASSOCIATED WITH OPIc CERTIFICATION
ACTFL rater certifications are highly-valued professional credentials.
This is an additional source of income made from the comfort of your home.
