WIDA, an international leader in the research and development of products and services to support multilingual language learners (MLLs) and their educators, invites applications for the inaugural role of Deputy Director. WIDA is housed in the Wisconsin Center for Education Research (WCER) at the top-ranked School of Education (SOE) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Since its founding in 2003, WIDA has experienced impressive growth and currently employs 140 staff with annual revenues exceeding $60 million.
Reporting to the Founder & Director of WIDA, the Deputy Director will have an opportunity to help shape this new role and have meaningful input into the organization’s strategy and future direction. The Deputy Director will have overall operational responsibility for WIDA’s growing staff, national and international programs, and execution of its plans for continued growth. Leading WIDA’s exceptionally talented senior management team, the Deputy Director will ensure high functioning decision-making, purposeful collaboration, strategic planning, and project prioritization while building a culture of equity and inclusion across the organization. This position is located in Madison, Wisconsin.
The Deputy Director will be a mission-focused, experienced, strategic, and process-minded leader. Ideally, the Deputy Director will bring a deep knowledge of preK-12 education and large-scale assessment, with a steadfast commitment to WIDA’s vision of being the most trusted and valued resource in supporting the education of multi-lingual learners. The successful candidate will hold a masters-level degree, preferably in education, linguistics, or a related field, or an MBA, and at least seven years of management experience effectively leading and scaling a performance-and outcomes-based organization.
