The Lower School Spanish teachers teach students in grades PreK-5, with the goal of helping students become competent language and culture learners. Lower School students at EA have Spanish once per week through grade 5. In grade 6, students may elect to begin other languages, or they continue Spanish. The Lower School Spanish teacher is a collaborative member of a teaching community committed to growth and continual improvement.

The Lower School Spanish Teacher:
Utilizes a diverse range of teaching practices for language acquisition to target a wide range of learners.
Ensures that all students are growing in their abilities to speak, understand, write, and read in Spanish.
Collaborates with homeroom teachers, language teachers in other divisions, and school leadership to continually improve the school’s world language programs
Is internationally-minded and shows it through classroom instruction, discussions, and community involvement.
Shares engaging, relevant knowledge of Hispanic cultures with students.
Collaborates frequently with faculty in other areas of school to design interdisciplinary, project-based learning experiences.
