The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Upper School team to teach Spanish. Spanish is one of three language offerings available to students in the Upper School that satisfy the school’s graduation requirement in World Languages. We are looking for a candidate who can support the school’s mission of diversity and inclusion and who has a background that displays and proves an understanding of cultural fluency. A qualified candidate will be able to manage the key responsibilities and tasks as listed below:
Instruct classes designed to help students acquire the ability to read and write in Spanish
Create an immersion setting in class through the use of comprehensible input to build students’ oral and written proficiency
Develop and implement a proficiency-oriented, interdisciplinary, multicultural, and experiential curriculum.
Share enthusiasm for language learning as an entry point for understanding culture and history
Coordinate with other World Language teachers as members of the World Language Department
Participate in parent-teacher conferences in fall and winter and write student reports at the mid-point and end-of-term each trimester
Attend faculty meetings and other professional gatherings as a member of the Upper School team
Successful candidates will have:
Experience in teaching – 3-5 years minimum preferred
A bachelor’s degree required, a graduate degree is preferred
Capacity and desire to engage in experiential activities and programs with students
Skill in the use of technology: including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work in a team – Upper School, World Language Department
