Department of German, Lecturer Pool
The Department of German seeks a pool of part?time, renewable, non?tenure track lecturers to teach German language courses (of various levels). In additional to instruction, general duties include holding office hours, developing syllabi, assignments and writing exams. Other duties may be assigned by the Chair as necessary.
The number of positions varies from semester to semester, and appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance. The position will remain open until filled to accommodate upcoming course needs and new applicants. Typically the Department reviews applications for summer and fall teaching in April, and applications for spring teaching in October and November.
Basic Qualifications (by the time of application): M.A. or equivalent degree in German or related field.
Additional qualifications (by start date): Native or near-native fluency in German and English. Demonstrated excellence in teaching, familiarity with college-level language programs, and relevant teaching experience using current language-teaching methodologies.
Letter of application, updated curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, statement of teaching experience, and contact information for three references are required of all applicants. Statement of Contribution to Diversity: statement addressing past and/or potential contributions to diversity through research, teaching and/or service is optional. Beginning salary is based on an annual full-time salary rate of a minimum of $52,099 for positions ranging from 17% to 100% each semester. Actual salary will be commensurate with college level teaching experience.
