Instructor, American Sign Language –Tenure-Track
The Communication & Languages Department invites applicants to apply for a full time tenure-track position in American Sign Language (ASL). Seeking qualified candidates to teach Introduction and Intermediate ASL courses as assigned.
Responsibilities included, but not limited to:
*Teach Introduction and Intermediate American Sign Language (ASL) courses as assigned.
*Develop and expand ASL curriculum.
*Develop and follow a syllabus for each course within College and departmental guidelines.
*Research and implement a placement testing system.
*Be available to students through posted office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods.
*Demonstrate a willingness to develop online component, if applicable for subject matter.
*Regularly evaluate courses and student learning materials. Regular assessment on the course and program levels. Assist with departmental strategic planning, program reviews, and outcomes assessment.
*Participate in student advisement.
*Be an active contributing member of the College community.
*Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and community members.
*Demonstrate commitment to teaching and working with a multi-cultural and multi-generational student body.
*Adhere to College policies and procedures.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in ASL, Linguistics or related field
Minimum of two years of teaching experience.
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
ASLTA or RID certified required.
College level teaching experience.
Ph.D in related field preferred.
