Westside school serves 350 students in grades PreK-8. The school has a robust arts program, and is home to a beautiful theater space. Westside is searching for a full-time Theater & Movement Teacher to join our performing arts faculty for the 2017 - 2018 academic year. In the middle school, the Theater & Movement teacher will teach a series of trimester-long Drama classes, and direct 1-2 stage productions per trimester (including one musical). In the Lower School, the teacher would build a foundation of theater & movement skills through trimester long classes at each level, generally including end of term showcases.
The successful candidate(s) will have the following personal and professional attributes:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher
WA State Teacher Certification or the equivalent
A strong background in working with like age students as a teacher, director and production designer.
Knowledge and experience with current best practices in elementary and middle education related to Drama and Movement instruction
Experience utilizing developmentally instructive techniques appropriate to a variety of learning styles
Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with other adults as members of a positive, professional faculty
Awareness of 21st century pedagogies and technology integration

Westside School serves 350 students in preschool-eighth grade. In the fall 2015, Westside School moved to a permanent campus in the Arbor Heights neighborhood of West Seattle, which supports our mission and values as a progressive, academically rigorous, relationship rich, preschool through eighth grade school with the core values of Academic Excellence, Joyful Learning, and Creating Confident Learners in a Caring Community.
